Formedras

There are RPGs, both modern and old-school, that do give experience from bosses. In these games, they'll generally be the main way a speedrunner will get any of it at all. And I'm pretty sure that even Final Fantasy goes back and forth on this. (Wish I could remember some off the top of my head. Maybe NES/SNES Final Fantasy?)
Or are you talking about RPG World specifically?

RPG World specifically, it's been established that the party doesn't gain exp in boss fights, much to Hero's chagrin

B-but, Cherry and Hero were dead at the end of the battle! You can't get EXP in old-school RPGs if your characters are dead at the end of the battle! 🤯
