GUYS???

I'm sure they're fine.

Hey! I'm moving soon! Last day at work is in a few weeks and then I'm off to Chattanooga in about another month! What's that? A job lined up? A way to sustain myself and not end up on the streets? Ha, ha.. About that

*slurping soda out of a big cup* So what's up with you guys? How we enjoying this fight?

I was going to ask Cherry if she knew the 1-summon-at-a-time applied to all summoners, as opposed to being an arbitrary limitation the universe had for her specifically... But then I realized it wasn't her who said that!

Hm. Cherry is the summoner, and is the one that we saw getting training in 663. But it seems Reka knows it fairly well?

Maybe something to do with her time in the Tatsachore in 677? Or a place where the developers just needed exposition, or the player has them in different slots than the localization team tested. (Chrono Cross has occasional oddities of this style, though the devs did think to give specialized lines for some key characters in some scenes)

-------
Art: that next to last panel gives me giant owl vibes. Kinda cool looking. :)

-------
HP: Reka had 1308 as of 622. Not sure on the others. I went back to 611, to see if it was on the party select screen, but it isn't. Reka has taken 1184, which would leave only 124, unless she leveled up since then. Cherry's likely in worse shape. She's at a lower level, and has taken 1041 over these last pages.

Hero, on the other hand has taken only 632 over the past two pages. Unclear as to how many turns he's delayed. Possibly only one? (Though we may have had both teams passing for a bit) - I suppose this Alpheidae may be her auto response to a physical attack, in which case this is another place where the Hex Tool from 620 would have been really handy.

If that's not a counterattack, it's looking a bit like this may be unwinnable by design: plot battle.

--------
Have a safe move! I hope it's something you are desiring, as an advance towards your long term goals, rather than a fall-back maneuver. I could understand if it's not though. We've had some rough economics these past few years.

Speaking of:
What's up is a renewed discussion of community involvement and hope. Otherwise, it's all too easy these days for people to get trapped in debt systems, and to fall into apathy after their striving seems to get them nowhere. For anyone who is, like me, in a good position, as a result of previous years' diligence or favor, I challenge you to see if there's a way you can help pull others up. (My worldview/beliefs help here, though I understand those might be considered controversial and/or maligned. - Some justifyiably, on account of some brash subsets who share the broad name, but who miss the main point. -- not really what this forum is for though, so I'll leave it at that)

More personally, a pair of my longest/closest friends just had their first kid. :)

-------
I'm enjoying the fight. :) It has emotional impact, foreshadowing payoffs, and the aesthetics of these past few pages has been solid! - You asked on the discord what you were paying artists for, and this type of effect is it. ;)

Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Owl: Thanks, now I can't unsee it 😛

Move: Highly desired! Here's hoping it goes cool.

Kids: Yay babies!!

I can't respond to everything but I greatly enjoy your very thorough comments!! Love seeing what people think on these

If ever there was a time for an Undertale style mercy option to be added to the combat system it would be now

"I'm sparing you."
"Cool." *continues to whale (ha) on your ass*

To be fair that's what happens in Undertale I suppose

Alpheidae reminds me of PK Love/Special from Earthbound.

I'm realizing the game designers were very cruel when designing this boss battle (this whole segment in general, that boss fight against the rat king reminded me of D Block from Xenogears). Tuna has MULTIPLE full-party hitting attacks and the party is without a designated healer class (though perhaps that was the party member they missed recruiting; still cruel that it's missable).

They haven't done the "Reka Builds Healy The Healbot!" sidequest yet.

There seems to be a vacuum of healing abilities, too, throughout the game as a whole. I mean, Diane was the healer until she wasn't, and maybe Rabble Rouser was supposed to fill that role with dances? But he got menu bar'd and subsequently unrecruited. Did Howard have any healing abilities? Or maybe this was Plum's chance to shine?
I get this sinking feeling that the player was meant to go around reacquiring all of their party members before pursuing new plot with Tuna. I wonder if this will be a game-over -> reload situation. We haven't had one of those in a long time!

Howard did indeed have healing!

*reloads* Alright, let's do all 100 pages of the Skuuba Arc, from the top!

But this time, the entire arc in only 5 panels!

I was recently reminded that "The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged" is a thing. ^_^

No no no, they clearly saved on page #680 before they left town. Though it would be funny to fast-forward through the whole arc with five panels "Cherry" picked from the arc, the only difference being an expression of increasing apathy on her face in each of them. Or an entire page with those same five panels repeating over and over in a shrinking spiral with increasing despair as the player crashes against the wall of Tuna.
