What's that? Sorry I was just writing a code to handle these for me. It took 100 hours to complete, but think of the minutes I'll save! At least dozens. Dozens of minutes. *nod*
Oh, the page? Yeah idk seems important I guess.
Also, my wifi is borked so I had to e-mail this page to myself and post it from my phone so you're WELCOME
(Guess what song I listened to while making this page)
*Edit: I have connected my computer to my phone's internet through the power of elite haxxors, I am unstoppable
there's too many things goin' on in this note, man
This feels like a Hero-is-going-to-interrupt-the-moment situation. Maybe Cherry just to throw us for a loop. Maybe times-are-tough guy just to REALLY throw us for a loop!
[Greeting, appropriate for time of day][response to the author's note][comment about current page][speculation of future comic path, with humor][counter comment, slightly more realistic]
Good evening! When I saw the author note, I knew I had to reply in kind. :) I think I could have made it more 'Mad-Lib-y', but suspect that what I added fits most of my post styling.
As for this page, this feels a little out of nowhere to me. I felt more of a 'Big Sister'/'Fun Aunt' vibe between the two. ... Boss Battle? With stranger mechanics than normal? I mean we do have special music playing, and Reka did mention the possibility. ;)
There's 2 other main possibilities that could see playing a role here.
1) With feeling the emotions from everyone, there could be quite a few romantic pairs they are feeling; could be driving it even if this isn't something they would otherwise consider. (And might stick after a first taste? We'll see. I'm not sure I'm reading the face of the purple haired one accurately)
2) This may be a trap, to get the information Reka's father had hidden away. Use the overwhelming emotion and a specific physical contact to dig it out without realizing the data had been taken. - Maybe the skuuban race wants to play for the dominant race this time around, and all this is an elaborate scheme.
Howdy! I enjoyed your code. ;) I'd agree it fits your style perfectly.
The only real comment I have on this is, if it feels out of nowhere, I'd maybe reread some of the Skuuba arc. ;P Your big sis / fun aunt vibe might come from her being "48", but with Skuuba lifespans she's effectively 24.
That being said! Art is nothing without the viewer's interpretation, so if it feels out of place, that's valid 😎
I actually did go back to read all of it, and stand by my previous assessment. And, no, the age didn't really factor in.
What I saw in review, from Tuna, which may have been hints: a little strong welcome, which seemed to apply to the whole party; a reaction just after combat, which I took as relief; and an interest in helping research. ("I knew your father!" / "I'm also interested in what you find")
I didn't really see anything that i thought signaled reciprocation from Reka.
Comparing with a the scene with Tuna and Cherry as a baseline, and factoring in the mood involved with Cherry/Hero then, none of how the Tuna came across felt different in that scene than the others. - I had modeled Tuna as over friendly/helpful/enthusiastic.
Btw, I'm not saying that there weren't cues/clues. (See the reaction from other readers) Just that that's not how I saw it, and it caught me a bit off guard.
As mentioned above, there's also a few other possibilities at play, on reading just the comic, but from your comments, it sounds like this scene is being played 'at face value'. (Pun not designed in, but left intentionally)
Please don't take your comic as seriously as this dude does. It seems like every other week he's got a complaint that's less constructive than pedantic.
This didn't come out of nowhere. And it feels right. That's all that matters. (Not to mention this is how 90's JRPGs used to handle romance anyway). I hope you don't feel the need to vindicate your decisions by sorting "evidence" from past comics to make your case.
While we all appreciate the thought you put into all this (and how you engage with your audience), I think RPGWorld is meant to be light-hearted satire with an emphasis on heart. And that's all it needs to be. The details are meant to be fun, not obstacles to stumble over and navigate. I hope you don't fall into that trap.
If it feels right to you, it feels right to us. Go with your heart and we're with you. Like with our favourite childhood rpgs, we'll pick up the clues ourselves and fill in the blanks with our own imagination. You just do what you feel is right :)
I may have given you the wrong impression. - There's a reason I'm a patron. I like this comic. ^_^
I actually don't think that this is out of character for Tuna, it's just an angle I wasn't anticipating. (Didn't detect any signals of this possibility) - And, as my post mentioned, some of the theories I had were hedging for a possible sneaky undercurrent. (Dispelled by comments. - If there's a reversal, and those do turn up true, I'd be a little shocked)
Also, the only thing I've intended as a complaint was on the Thanksgiving post, for reasons mentioned in that thread.
I will, on the other hand, sometimes go to great lengths (including above) to explain my perspective. - Context can be hard to establish between strangers over text, especially without the back-and-forth of conversation. [Reply/Clarification]
I'd rather have someone disagree with me because they know what I think than have them disagree with what they think I think.
Might explain why it's a PAL only release, with English and French language options. Guy Who Plays RPG World had to pay extra for the import, plus a mod chip to play it.
The comic got a laugh out of me, but this had me in stitches.

AAAAAAAA XD
(And I'm saying "if" because it looks pretty clear that Reka need more time with everything that's been going on...)

I would like to say I do very much enjoy Retnuhytnuob's commentary! He always provides an interesting and different type of perspective.
I heart all my readers and commenters!
