Man. I’m trying to think of fun things to say for these pages but. I’m hungry. My body hurts. XD I just wanna nap and watch cartoons.
We’ve probably got some standard RPG goofiness for a few pages. I dunno. What do you guys like? The plot heavy pages? The goofy stuff? Both? ALL THE CHARACTERS BEING TOGETHER BEFORE THE AUTHOR SPLIT THEM UP?
Haha, yeah. Good times.
EDIT: Is it me or can you just hear this Skuuba's voice?
Ya, when I found out about the card game in FFVIII, I never even left the first town to play the actual game.
Nice title by the way.
As for the blurb question: Some of both. It's nice to get a rest in between the plot heavy stuff to process it all while at the same time you don't want TOO much filler.
The last time I played FFVIII, with the intent to finally beat it, I told myself I wouldn't go overboard on Triple Triad. Most of my games end because I forgot what I was doing because of the bloody card game.
As Sokka once said, "This is the kind of wacky time-wasting nonsense I've been missing!" At the end of the day this is a goofy parody webcomic about making jokes about RPGs. Sure, it has a plot, and a compelling one at that, but ignoring all the jokes you can make along the way is making the journey all about the destination.
I'm real excited to see gags about whatever Gwent garbage Hero is about to get overly invested in. I hope he unlocks an ultimate weapon, but it turns out to be the ultimate weapon for Howard or somebody else who is never in the main party.
As someone who has not played any of the Final Fantasy games with card games built in, I will be disappointed it you don't work in at least a few Yu-Gi-Oh references. Yes, there are other TCG's, but Yu-Gi-Oh is sort of the go-to for "Why are TCG's involved?" games. I mean, look at Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's: it is like they took two or three different stories, only one involving card games, and just smooshed them all together...
...I'm not asking for much, though. Something like Cherry saying "At least they aren't playing a card game to decide the fate of the world..." or Hero being all "Y'know what would make this better? If we played on motorcycles!"
I'm hoping for some side stuff with the other characters too. I'm looking forward to Dragobo's Dungeon 2, with absurd gear only he can wear that does weird nonsense like allow him to attack forwards and backwards simultaneously... only to kick Howard in the face by accident.
That's a really great idea. Start with hero playing the card game, then cut back to Howard and Dragobo going on adventures for like 10 comic pages, then cut back to hero playing the exact same game. You can waste so much time on these minigames.
Nice title by the way.
